A very interesting article on CNET News titled: Facebook in Vietnam: Social-networking blues
I know from personal experience because my blog was blocked while we were 10 months in Vietnam because the Vietnamese Socialist Communist Fascist government probably didn’t agree with some of my articles.
The above CNET article highlights why we feel more comfortable here in Ecuador than in Vietnam. The Ecuadorian people seem much more free and open. Mellow is a good word for the tone here. Although, at the same time, three cities are under ‘martial law’ due to petty crime.
And while the electricity is turned off for three hours most weekdays, it’s not as much of a problem as it was in Vietnam because the weather here is so mild and comfortable both day and night. In Vietnam, no electricity meant not even a fan — at 37C – instant sweat!
Also, the apartment complex here in Cuenca uses LPG to both cook and heating the hot water in a large ‘flow thru’ unit.
